Mr. Kumpf graduated with honors from the J. Reuben Clark School of Law at Brigham Young University in 1992. Following graduation, he practiced in San Diego, California with the commercial litigation firm of Walton, Ottesen, Meads & Koler. He later joined San Diego’s oldest law firm, Higgs, Fletcher & Mack, where his practice focused on commercial and business litigation, with an emphasis on employment law. He came to Colorado in 1998 to accept a position as general counsel for a Castle Rock-based manufacturer and distributor of dietary and nutritional supplements.

After completing his education in Port Elizabeth South Africa, Roy Charsley was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa in 1980. Until 1982, he worked initially as State Advocate prosecuting criminal cases at all levels including appearances in the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of South Africa (South Africa’s highest court at the time). In 2000, Mr. Charsley moved his family to Denver where he accepted a position in the International Department of Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. and later Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd.

Before becoming a partner at Kumpf Charsley & Hansen, LLC he served as in-house counsel for a large privately owned residential home building and land development company in Colorado. Since that time Mr. Hansen has been an active trial lawyer in complex civil, personal injury, automobile collision, insurance bad faith, and premises liability cases in Colorado District Court, Federal District Court, and arbitration.

Mr. Wells has been litigating cases in Colorado courts for nearly 15 years. He has handled various matters from civil actions (commercial, real estate, title insurance defense etc) to domestic relations cases from the simple to the complex financial and custody issues (including parental alienation/estrangement). Mr. Wells handles appellate matters and has successfully challenged trial court rulings in appellate courts. Mr. Wells’ litigation training began as a law intern to Judge Angela Arkin during the Fall of 2003. Mr. Wells receives referrals from friends, colleagues, opposing counsel, opposing parties and family members of opposing parties.

Dane Torbenson is a Denver native, and grew up in the Park Hill neighborhood in east Denver. After attending Denver East High School, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Theatre from the University of Colorado, Boulder. After a number of years as a starving actor, and jobs ranging from waiter to stuntman to private investigator to paralegal, Dane enrolled at the University of Denver College of Law, and received his J.D. in 1998. Dane began practicing criminal defense law at the law firm of Newell and Martens, and eventually became partner in the firm then named Newell and Torbenson.

Michael earned his bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University where he majored in International Relations with a minor in business. He received his law, masters of business administration, and a masters of law in taxation degrees from the University of Denver.
Michael’s practice focuses on elder law, estate planning, probate, guardianships and conservatorships, and Medicaid planning. He has also practiced in the areas of bankruptcy and tax law. After over 20 years in practice, Michael has learned to explain things in simple terms so clients leave informed, not confused.
Michael is admitted to practice in Colorado, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, and the U.S. Tax Court. In his free time he enjoys skiing, both downhill and cross-country, and has been known to do some Olympic weightlifting.

Tami Pray is a fifth-generation native Coloradoan who grew up in Fort Collins, CO. She has been a paralegal with Kumpf Charsley & Hansen for over 11 years of her 20+ year career assisting our attorneys and clients in many areas of law including all areas of family law, probate and diverse civil matters. Tami graduated from IBMC in Fort Collins, Colorado with an Associates of Occupational Studies- Paralegal degree in 2003. Most recently, she was sworn in on June 20, 2024 by the Colorado Supreme Court with the inaugural class of Licensed Legal Paraprofessionals in Colorado.
Tami’s knowledge and experience with nearly every judicial district in the State of Colorado separates her from the average LLP. Her compassion and ability to assist clients through the complexities and difficulties of navigating the family law system are unmatched.
Tami is a member of the Colorado Bar Association and Family Law Section.
Outside of the office, Tami enjoys spending time with her family, reading, hiking, fishing, playing pinochle, cooking, and traveling.
